Greyhound Pet Adoption

TO OUR FRIENDS:

2/27/23

Our group will be doing maintenance and support for the next 8-10 years for our current adopters and any needs they may have for their Greyhounds. We will also be here to take in any returns/surrendered Greyhounds from anyone or stray Greyhounds. We are currently not accepting applications. Please consider the following resources:

  • Visit American Greyhound at www.americangreyhound.org for information.
  • For Galgos and Lurchers, contact Erin Floyd at 260-615-5633.
  • Some adoption groups in the US are bringing in racing Greyhounds from Europe or Australia. Those adoption fees usually start around $1250 and up. The nearest group to SW Missouri doing this is Greyhound Adoption League of Texas based in Dallas, Texas.
    See galtx.org for adoption information.
  • Learn more about adopting Galgos Greyhounds from Spain. This group is located in Illinois. Go to fbmamerica.org/adoption-resources Also see Galgopod.org.

WELCOME TO GREYHOUND PET ADOPTION SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI!

Greyhound Pet AdoptionGreyhound Pet Adoption Springfield MO is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides information, education, promotion of adoption and adoption of retired racing Greyhounds. We also promote cooperation with other adoption programs nationwide to further the placement of Greyhounds as pets into responsible loving homes.

Alane Shultz is the founder of GPAMO and has had retired racing greyhounds as pets since 1983. She has facilitated greyhound adoptions since 1992.

Greyhounds are clean, quiet and have no hereditary health problems. Their exercise requirements are surprisingly low - they prefer to curl up and have you pet them! Loving and loyal, your greyhound is your fast friend for life!

TVEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Tvey was surrendered to GPAMO from Arkansas. Although not our original adoption, we found a great home for Tvey. Any time that a returned Greyhound becomes available, we will announce it here.

Showcase the artwork of your sweet family dog, cat or any animal you share your loving home with. Before you clean the nose-smudged, tongue-licked strokes from your glass, have them turned into a unique, abstract piece of art to display in your home. Dog Knose Art will create your preferred color scheme and size to fit into your current decor. The result will be a memorable keepsake that involves your pet in a beautiful and sentimental way.
